Future Directions part 2

If the shutdown continues a few more days, my category will switch to "non-essential", and I will be able to keep up with the blogging!  Yeah!

I could use about two or three weeks of furlough to catch up on my classes.

The silver lining to the shutdown? :) I hope it doesn't detrimentally affect your paycheck!

We will see how this all works out. My main observation is that the US is bankrupt three times over: At the federal, state and local levels. Some are putting their hope in the government to find a path forward. As I see it, even an Atheist should agree that God is our only real hope!

Wiser words than what you have said in response to Delirious, have never been uttered.

I totally agree, Rummuser!

Rummuser, I suspect that the parliamentary rules have been changed by the party in power numerous times over the years.

Of course the real issue is that even with a full spending "shutdown" and record taxes pouring into the treasury, we still ran out of the remaining credit. And the rate that we ran out of credit didn't seem to be noticeably diminished.

Hi Looney,

It seems like you won't be very seems like a deal has been struck?

The world was already calling the US an economic hostage-taker and telling it to step aside...alas, America has once more disappointed the world, it didn't collapse for good...*nodding*.

@Max, the Tea Party held out far longer than I expected. If the vote passes, we get to face the same problem again - but bigger - three months later.

The good news for me is that Apple is coming out with a new iPad next week, and - unlike my government - I won't buy any new toys without income to cover it!

You are right, the Tea Party might pull another stunt in three months...there is only one problem: election year.

A new iPad? Even if you had the income to cover it...why buy a new one while your old is still working?

Have a blessed weekend.
