Interpreting the Signs ...

I have a couple possibilities I am considering.  One is that India is a state that belongs to California.  Another is that California is a state that belongs to India.  Given that it is "(California)" with parenthesis, this might imply that California is simply another name for India.  There is also the observation that (California) is below India, which would perhaps indicate that California is subordinate to India.  But then again, all this might just imply that the State Bank of India feels more secure having assets in California, which is certainly not a good sign for Indians.  Undoubtedly I have gotten everything wrong, so I would welcome any corrections.

The title I used derives from a Bible verse:

"The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.  He replied, 'When evening comes, you say, "It will be fair weather, for the sky is red," and in the morning, "Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast."  You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.  A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.'" - Matthew 16:1-4

Sometimes I wonder if California is a country all by itself. :0s

I usually tell people we live in the PRC - People's Republic of California!

Delirious is moving from one PRC to another.

lol Looney!

I have eaten some pretty delicious Indian food here in California, so I am tending toward the idea that California is a State of India. :)

Inklings, California isn't a country all by itself, the left wing radical leaders of it just THINK It is. :P lol

This wicked and adulterous Indian has just sprayed tea all over the monitor of his computer.

How about just "a state of mind" to bring some justice to that sign board!

PS, I bet that you did not expect that comment from me.

And Delirious, how apt!

From the State Bank of India (California) website:

State Bank of India (California) is fully owned by State Bank of India, one of the strongest banks in the World, with controlling ownership by Government of India.

So it would appear to be the California branch of the State Bank of India brand of bank.

Vid, that sounds like a branch of a foreign government that is setting up shop here in Fremont. Looking at the web site, the thing that jumps out is the "Anti-Money Laundering" notice. I do a lot of banking with Chinese banks and haven't seen that before.
